Pamela came up for the day from Essex staying the previous night so an early start could be made for her experience day.We milked the cows then Pam fed all the newly born calves, she said she could n’t get over how friendly the cows were to her.In the afternoon we set up our own corral in the field so we could bring home a cow that was due to calve soon.Pams husband,Ash, mucked in also which was a great help.We all had a great day in the sun and Pam hopes to come back soon to experience the life of a Cheshire Dairy farmer.

A big thankyou to Malcom and Nicky for coming and spending a days experience at Gorstage Green farm, the weather was perfect.Malcom seemed to be in his element, from looking after the calves to feeding the bulls. One of the best highlights of the day was when Nicky and Malcom had to move two new born calves which had only been born the day before to the calf place,so Malcom just picked each calf up in his hands and carried them over (no messing about there). The biggest impression left on Nicky and Malcom was that the farmer has to be dedicated and skilled to run a farm to high standards but with people like Nicky and Malcom appreciating the work we do, it is worth it.

The end of the day came too quickly and there were still things to do but the cows had been milked twice and all animals fed and watered.Ron and Jeff could go home knowing that there efforts during the day have helped get people there pint of milk to there kitchen table for them to enjoy the next day, and I hope that Ron and Jeff will call in to see us again? next year.
